NTS radio host and artist in her own right, Irish musician Maria Somerville announces her debut LP for 4AD Luster. Following her affecting comeback track 'Projections', 'Garden' is a heady dose of what's to come. Perfectly placed on a label known for their ethereal shoegaze output (see Cocteau Twins if you're not familiar), the blissed out piece is comprised predominantly of reverb and delay-drenched guitar layers. Rippling effortlessly over gothic beats and celestial synth textures, there's a modern slowcore feel about Somerville's delivery style, which intentionally leaves space for the each carefully-chosen element. Emboldened by an equally atmospheric video directed by Anna Heisterkamp, Somerville explains: “We filmed it at home in Connemara, and I think it perfectly captures the essence of the place..The late-night drives, dusky and still evenings."
